One Greater Manchester team boasts an amateur veterans team with 9 ex- Premier League players in their present lineup.

222 Top Division Goals, Three Hundred Twenty-Five International Appearances

Wythenshawe Veterans Over 35s are located in south Manchester and compete in the Cheshire Vets Division Top Division.

The lineup this season includes 9 former top-flight players, with a collective 1,801 Premier League games.

This elite roster also boasts over 220 top division goals and over 320 international caps.

They feature Papiss Cisse, who notched 37 scores in 117 appearances for Newcastle United after signing for them for nine million pounds from German league club Freiburg in January 2012.

He made his first appearance for Wythenshawe in their last home match against reigning champions their rivals and scored every one of the six scores in a 6-2 victory - including a half-hour first-half hat-trick.

Wythenshawe's squad for this season also features ex- professionals such as English and Anfield striker Emile Heskey, Hull City and Burnley FC midfielder George Boyd, Everton striker Oumar Niasse, Wigan Athletic defender Maynor Figueroa, Manchester City duo Stephen Ireland and Nedum Onuoha and Premier League championship victors Joleon Lescott and Danny Drinkwater.

Collectively, the ex- top-flight players have won fifteen significant honors and moved for total transfer fees of about £123m.

Famous Names and International Players

Ireland started turning out for the side in pre-season this season through good mate and current team teammate Blake Norton, and the ex- Republic of Ireland player then invited additional former professionals, who all play in a midweek small-sided game, to join in.

Former Senegal forward Niasse, who scored 12 scores in sixty-five Premier League games for the Toffees and even now goes to their home games, also had his first appearance against Collegiate OB - who are based in the city and use an Blue warm-up gear as their strip.

"My friend Stephen said 'join and have a game, it's good fun'," said Niasse.

"Then he informed me we were facing a team from Liverpool and the shock I had when I saw them sporting Everton kits - I thought this is strange for me!

"When you still love football and you feel you can still play, anywhere you can play, what are you going to choose?

"The people who come and see are pleased and to give a day if they see us competing there and to ask us queries - it's really about the pleasure of us having a place we can play, with organisation of course."

Such is the strength in depth at the club, Niasse made his debut at defender.

"It's a little unusual but then, I love running and just move forward - I'm not staying back that much," he added.

"I warn my defender 'I'm not staying' and that I'm just going to keep attacking.

"That running is what I'm seeking. It's enjoyable."

Dreamlike' Feeling

Along with Cisse's six goals on his first game, Stephen Ireland has scored eight in 3 games for the side, while George Boyd hit 5 on his first match and Lescott, a centre-half by position, notched a triple in one game up front.

The team are top of the Premier Tier with three wins from three and a goal difference of plus nineteen.

Paul Barrow, 38, who plays on the wing for the opposition, faced former Latics full-back Figueroa on the weekend - and had to tell his nine-year-old son who Emile Heskey was.

He has played at two global tournaments for Honduras, in addition to playing in more than 200 top-flight games.

"The news was spreading like a rumor they had all these ex-Premier League stars," said Barrow.

"I think I was a bit awestruck facing Figueroa to be honest.

"Even Heskey got on and he's has over 60 English caps.

"Our side held our own for a solid twenty minutes but then we had a man dismissed and it was hard.

"We really have not ceased chatting about it - I was calling my mum and brother on the journey home.

"They were all really nice, shaking our hands after the match - it was like playing a bunch of normal fellas.

"Now we can't wait for the second fixture."
