Assassin's Creed Introduces Unexpected AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a unexpected partnership that defies usual expectations, the game developer has unveiled an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.
Strange Adventure Uncovered
According to the official release, "An unusual encounter pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where hints of banned practices and terrifying changes echo through the darkness." The plot presents a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a clandestine cult.
The mission centers on "peculiar experiments and a fearsome enemy" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Transformations
The teaser highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer finishes with a powerful scene showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Prizes and Bonus Features
Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an exclusive katana in addition to multiple items concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-based attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Addition
This patch also adds the game's newest free story content, titled "The Enigma." This playful adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature techniques: Naoe debuts a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Past Anime Crossovers
This represents hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime properties. The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly featured a quest that unmistakably echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
